Starting point London

We borrowed backpacks from one of my colleagues, that saved us some money we can then use elsewhere.
Dad drove us to the airport. Our boy told him how much he was going to miss him.

My boy backpack weighed 10kg
My back pack weighed 13 Kg

All accommodations booked mainly Airbnb, one B&B, one hostel and one visit to friends. All train tickets booked in advance, great deals when booking early.  Based on articles read online, it was cheaper for us to drop the interrail pass for individual train bookings and we also added a buss in one of our destinations.

What to pack? Well after reading several articles about it, and unsuccessfully reaching a desired weight, I re packed three times in order to eliminate unnecessary stuff. We are also bringing things we can dispose or give away in order to fit the few new things we plan to buy.

We arrived late at night to Gatwick and after reaching Victoria Station we took the 15 tube ride to our Airbnb destination. My son was skeptical and afraid about living at strangers homes, and he found the 10 minute walk in a dark unknown neighborhood scary and he asked  why not a hotel, so I explained again the difference in cost and that he didn't need to worry. Upon arriving at our accommodations, we received the most warm welcome, instructions, keys and a cosy room with a typical English suburb garden view. My son delighted and felt comfortable for the friendliness we received from our host, a young family, and expressed how nice the people were and how cosy the room was.

A good start of our journey.
